Earlier days, film cameras were used to capture the photos. But, now digital cameras came into existence, which uses different types of memory cards to store large number of digital images. Digital camera captures the image by using charge-coupled device (CCD). This CCD then sends the image to a storage medium i.e. memory cards. Memory cards can store other digital media like audios, videos including digital photos and other files. Memory cards use flash technology that stores digital media until you erase them intentionally. Memory cards do not have moving parts like hard drives thus they are less susceptible for mechanical failures. Data loss due to mechanical or physical failures is very difficult. Make use of “Safely Remove Hardware” icon to avoid data loss due to improper removal of memory card. If you have lost or accidentally deleted photos from the memory card then do not use that memory card to avoid permanent loss of photos.
